Kootenays East/ Source of the Waters

This area of the Kootenays lies just west of the Continental Divide. It is here that gravity dictates that the Kootenay River flows south and that the Columbia River flows north hence the name "Source of the Waters".

Mineral-rich waters in a magnificent mountain setting are offered at Radium Hot Springs and the meadows of the upper Columbia Valley attract birders and naturalists.

Windermere Lake is very warm and the small town of Invermere has a number of charming shops and restaurants. Play golf at one of the excellent 18-hole courses near Radium , Invermere, and Windermere.
